Fredericksburg is one of those towns and is known for its robust wine culture, the second largest wine tourism destination in the US, just behind Napa Valley, California. Grape Creek Vineyards blends a simple sophisticated environment with the enjoyment of wine indulgence. This is not a winery for those looking for a party, but if you want a wine club where you can truly learn about good wine and partake in the exploration and appreciation of wine tasting and pairings, then Grape Creek is your destination. Grape Creek Vineyards also offers a tram to explore the estate and vineyards. It is open seven days a week to those 21 years and older and you can grab a bite to eat at the restaurant also on site. While there is an outdoor patio, pets are not allowed.

Heath Sparkling Wines is a sister property to Grape Creek Vineyards and is located adjacent to the property. This unique winery is the first in Texas dedicated to fine sparkling winemaking. Heath Sparking Wines offers a multi-sensory tasting experience and also has a restaurant on site with outdoor patio seating. It is open seven days a week to those age 21 and older and pets are not allowed.

Four Points Cellars acquired its name from a trio of Texas winemakers who opened this property, making it their fourth winery in operation. The name also carries a second meaning: a goal to consistently rate a perfect 4 in winemaking and customer service. Four Points Cellars has been in business since 2012 and offers a wine club where members can enjoy the award-winning tastes of Brennan Vineyards, Lost Oak Winery and McPherson Cellars. Guests can enjoy complimentary tasting, use of the venue for their own events, and quarterly wine shipments.

The couple decided they lived on the Fat Ass Ranch, and the business was born. Fat Ass Ranch offers wine tastings of their award-winning wines along with a logo glass starting at just $10 per person. For just $30, you can get an upgraded experience that includes tasting of five wines, a tram ride through the grape vineyard, a frozen sangria, and a tour of the on-site car collection.

Messina Hof Hill Country Winery sits on nearly 10 acres in the Texas Hill Country, and features Lenoir grapes grown on site in the vineyard. Messina Hof Hill Country Winery produces award-winning, traditional style ports. This family-owned business started 40 years ago with 50 varieties of grapes and the owners are known as founding pioneers of the Texas wine industry. In fact, when the family began the business, there were few commercial wine vineyards in Texas, and now the state is the fifth largest producer of grapes in the US.

Signor Vineyards is located on 200 acres at the intersection of the Pedernales River and Grape Creek. It offers a award-winning wine with French country gardens and a farmhouse shop named after the founding family matriarch Joanna. Sit-down table service with tastings by the bottle or glass is available daily and the Wine Barn is open on the weekends serving charcuterie and delicious wines. Outdoor tables and chairs are available throughout the vineyard on a first-come, first-serve basis; however, reservations can be made for wine club members and groups of eight or more.

Chisolm Trail Winery offers wine tastings starting at just $10. With your wine tasting purchase, you also will receive 10% off the purchase of three or more bottles of wine. The Oval Oven also serves gourmet, wood-fired pizza “until the dough runs out.” Cold cuts and fruit plates are also available to enjoy while sipping wine. While tours are not offered, guests can watch the winemaking process through a window to the production area where all wines are made and bottled on site. The grapes used for the wines made at Chisolm Trail Winery are brought in from various vineyards throughout Texas, primarily from the Rio Grande Valley. The tasting room is available for walk-in service, but groups of 10 or more need a reservation, and children accompanied by parents and dogs on leashes are allowed. A 10% military discount is also offered on bottles of wine.
